Vintage 50s sweater dress wiggle Kims Kimberly wool wrap bodice bodycon classic

Description: Classic midcentury knit sweater dress by Kims / Kimberly Knitwear Incorporated. Wrap style bodice with natural set waist. Side belt carriers (no belt present) Short dolman sleeves with ribbed cuffs. Vertical ribbed skirt. No closures/ pull over the head style dress. Unlined. Based on the label and the all wool fiber content, I estimate it to be from the early 1950s, possibly late 1940s as one of Kimberly Knitwear/ Kims first sweater dresses. The company was formed in 1946 and trademarked in 1947. They started off making wool sweaters then skirts then other garments including dresses. This dress is 100% virgin wool. (later in the 50s they started adding mixtures of Dacron and Orlon to the wool) This is such a timeless dress. It is just as stylish now as it was approx 75 years ago and will be just as stylish in the future, suitable for many occasions. --Measurements-- I would estimate it to fit like a size Small up to Medium and Tall in today's sizing, but please refer to the measurements. For reference, shown photographed on a 5'10" mannequin with bust bra padded to 34.5 "/waist 25.5"/ hips 35". Compare with your own measurements. The knit has stretch. (with knits, the more it is stretched, the more sheer it becomes so you may wish to wear a slip underneath) Measurements taken while flat and doubled when applicable.Bust: approx 35" not stretchedWaist: 30" to max stretched 42"Hips: 40" to 54" max stretchedShoulder to waist: 16.5"Shoulder to hem: 46.25"Waist to hem: 29" and has a 3" hem --Condition--The dress is in overall excellent vintage condition.
