Vintage Classic Seiko lot 6117 RARE 6117-6400, 6117-6419, GMT 24hr, World Time

Description: 2 Watch LOT! BOTH 6117-64xx, rare and sought after Japanese timepieces. These were made around the time of the US involvement in the Vietnam War, so around the late 1960s to early 1970s. Both automatic mechanical movements function, although I have not measured how well they keep time because any $10 dollar digital watch will keep better time than a watch this old. 6117-6400 World Time: This is a spectacular example of a truly classic watch that was intended at the world traveler, adventurer market. Popular with military members and jet setters alike, It has different cities around the world such as Los Angeles, Sydney, and London representing these cities time differences in relation to one another. While it is equipped with a classic 12 hour dial, it is still a stunning example of ingenuity in watchmaking. It could use some minor TLC, but is in functional condition. It mainly just needs the plexi crystal polished. This watch generally sells for between $500-$1200 in working condition 6117-6419 GMT 24 Hour: At its creation it was one of the most technologically advanced wristwatches on the market in terms of sheer engineering level. There was nothing else like it at the time, and it was a highly sought after watch by aviators and military members. This watch has a rotating GMT inner number dial that allows the user to change time zones without manipulating the movement, which was an important feature for aviators. Equipped with an exotic 24 hour dial, it only makes a single rotation per 24 hour period instead of 2 rotations (per 12 hours) as most watches do. This watch is in good working condition other than a small barely noticeable crack in the plexi crystal, but Included is a new $35 plexi crystal that can replace the cracked crystal. This watch sells for between $300-800 in working condition generally. Both of these watches could make the buyer a nice profit if they were to be overhauled.
