Description: Vintage Mexican folk art mask made in Guerrero, Mexico created entirely by hand from carving to painting. This blue-eyed mask features a multi-colored snake replacing the nose on the face. Since ancient times in Mexico, the snake has been used as a symbol of strength, creativity & continuity. Using its powers to disappear into the earth and to re-appear in other locations has given the snake a symbolic power that is represented in stories & art. This mask is in very good condition and still features vibrant paint colors. It measures approximately 9 1/2" inches length, 6 1/2" inches width and 3" inches depth.
