Every year, more of these irreplaceable treasures are lost-- to fires, floods, etc., or simple carelessness. It is my hope to rescue as many as possible and help them find homes where they will be cherished and passed on to future generations. There is no date inside, but in researching the publisher (Longmans, Green, and Co.) and the printer (Ballantyne, Hanson and Co.,) the book would have to have been printed between 1880 and 1915. Based on the style, I would guess closer to 1880. The number is 34 written in pencil near the back of the book. No tears or odors.
