Description: This is an absolutely beautiful dog plate made by Wedgwood in England. It is titled: Non-Sporting, Terrier and Working Dog Plates "FOR DEFENSE." It is a copy of a 1944 etching created by renowned dog artist and breeder Marguerite Kirmse to commemorate the WWII War Dogs. This series of dog plates was made in the 1940s and 1950s. It measures 10.75 inches in diameter. The rim is decorated with oak leaves and acorns. Impressed on the backside: WEDGWOOD 12 R 54. Clear plastic plate stand not included. Referenced in the book, The History of the Doberman Pinscher as Depicted Through Collectibles, Art and Literature on page 81. CONDITION: Excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
