Description: William Henry Seward [1801 1872] was an American politician who was appointed by President Abraham Lincoln as the 24th United States Secretary of State. Seward previously served as a U.S. Senator from New York and was a determined opponent of slavery in the years leading up to the American Civil War. He was also a prominent figure in the newly formed Republican Party. During his tenure as Secretary of State, he negotiated the treaty for the United States to purchase the Alaskan Territory. Listed for auction is the uncommon autograph of William Henry Seward signed on a page. The autograph is signed ''William H. Seward, Alburn'' in fountain pen. Note, Seward lived in Alburn, New York. The page measures 4.50 x 2.00 inches and is in fine condition. The autograph will be accompanied with a vintage engraved card of Seward as the United States Secretary of State.
