Three of the inscriptions are dated: two on April 16 and one on April 17, 1945. Also, two entries (one dated and one not dated) indicate that they were in Germany at that time, coinciding with the Western Allied Invasion of Germany, only three weeks before Nazi Germany fell and unconditionally surrendered on May 8.
