Description: Original WW2 (1944) British Map of GERMANY entitled "DUSSELDORF" with a rare official "HQ Map Section ATA White Waltham" ink stamp which relates to the Air Transport Auxiliary. This small organisation ferried damaged planes to and from maintenance depots and delivered new operational aircraft to forward operating bases etc. The ATA consisted of only 1300 pilots throughout the War, with one in eight being female pilots on equal pay to their male counterparts. With such a small number of pilots it's rare to find maps marked officially in this way. It's one of a small number I am currently listing, most of which relate to Germany In great condition.
